Bena The Traditional Village in Bajawa

Bena traditional village in Ngada Bajawa Flores – Indonesia. Picture viewed from the north.

Bena village is one of traditional village located in Ngada, Flores Island, East Nusa Tenggara Province, Bena also known as megalithic village in Ngada tribe. This village is located on top of a hill beside Inerie volcano  foot.

They are embrace Catholic religion but they also believe to Yeta existence the god on the mountain to protects their village and live. The locals is farmer but most of women do weaving.

Bena has been nominated to be a World Heritage Site by UNESCO at 1995.
